Witch Hazel lay in the high branches of the tree which lay in the center of the moon colored clearing. Her colorless eyes glowed towards the darkness which was the base of the tree.
Swish!
The tail, so deadly, swished side to side as she watched the cat below. Clawing the tree as she stretched her groaning muscles, Witch Hazel let out a loud meow of contentment. What a beautiful night! Continuing to watch the cat far below with those terrible orbs of insanity, her smile grew into a predator’s. Whispering softly, she called out to the feline, “Up here,” her meow mocking…

Blackheart climbed the tree slowly. He usually came here to think, and that’s just what he was doing. He muttered under his breath about the “stupid Clan” and its “dumb rules”. Blackheart needed something to do, something that would make him feel better. He stiffened slowly. Ha! My mind is playing tricks on me. There is no one here but myself. But he tensed up, waiting for the battle that he needed to put off steam.

Witch Hazel began the terrifying decent with little grace and much noise. Let’s see you miss that sound Mister Mighty Hunter! Jumping from slim wavering branch to near twig, she seemed to be avoiding all the stout limbs that were so appealing. Grinning wide enough to put the Cheshire Cat to shame, Witch Hazel began rhyming in a drunken voice that warbled into the night.
“Rhyming, for me are words, stringed together,
It can talk of lost love or cruel weather.
Sometimes it meows or you'll hear a growl
Sometimes the words merely howl.
But that's all I can say in seriousness,
Simple words are all my mind can harness.”
At the end of the verse, Witch Hazel landed neatly in front of the cat, her grin was never the bigger…

Blackheart snarled at the cat hoping the cat would attack him then he could rip it up. "What in SoulClan are you doing here loner!? We don't welcome your kind around here."

Witch Hazel lost her predatorial grin and replaced it with a smooth expression so as to present a face of grim seriousness. What fun! Tilting her head, she quickly replied to his challenge, “Me is sorry, but me no understand. Me only speak daffodil and very little kitty!” Taking a few, quick steps forward, Witch Hazel’s nose nearly touched the clan member’s. Opening her mouth real wide, she blew out a blast of air. This air was not roses and fruit, no, it was a mixture of used cat litter and mushrooms…

Blackheart jumped out of the tree in disgust. Crazy cat I don't know why we let you stay there! He left seeking nothing and wanting nothing but to leave the insane cat.

Witch Hazel laughed, laughed until he was well out of hearing range. Once she could no longer see his resonating gloominess, she began singing. It was a soft lullaby, one that she kept singing until she returned to her favorite resting place.
“Over in Killarney
Many years ago,
Me Mither sang a song to me
In tones so sweet and low.
Just a simple little ditty,
In her good old Irish way,
And l'd give the world if she could sing
That song to me this day.
"Too-ra-loo-ra-loo-ral, Too-ra-loo-ra-li,
Too-ra-loo-ra-loo-ral, hush now, don't you cry!
Too-ra-loo-ra-loo-ral, Too-ra-loo-ra-li,
Too-ra-loo-ra-loo-ral, that's an Irish lullaby."
Oft in dreams I wander
To that cot again,
I feel her arms a-huggin' me
As when she held me then.
And I hear her voice a -hummin'
To me as in days of yore,
When she used to rock me fast asleep
Outside the cabin door.”
Once she reached her favorite perch, high up in the swaying branches of the tree, Witch Hazel paused in singing the crazy Two-Leg lullaby, and began licking a toadstool…
