Jasminepaw shuffled slowly to the fresh kill pile, wanly hoping that her mentor was too lazy to train with her today. Grasping a shrew gently in her mouth, she made her way over to a shadowy part of camp so as not to attract as much attention. I need to keep up my strength. Grimly Jasminepaw bit into the plump shrew before her and chewed slowly. What’s the point, I really should just go drown today and get this misery over with. She contemplated this as she did every day for the past month, but shoved away the thought as she noticed her mentor approaching. No time for that now, I wonder what Blackstar wants? I’ll find out soon enough…

"Jasminepaw!" He trotted over to her, a sneer almost hidden on his face. Almost. "You're going with Iceheart and his apprentice to train today. I know you're older than Spiralpaw, but I though you might be able to teach her some moves. You will meet them immediately after you finish your meal. Is that clear?" He glared at her. All she does is mope around. She's such a waste of space. Maybe she'll get killed in battle soon. Even if she doesn't I'll just put her in the front lines when we attack RainClan. "Hurry up and finish."
With that he turned away from her and walked pompously back to his den.

Jasminepaw merely continued her slow paced chewing, not even bothering to say “no”. At this rate I’ll never be a warrior, with him never training me, and me never trying. She didn’t even sit up straight to give the honor that was due to her leader. I could really care less. Her tail twitched as she felt a stronger stomach ache than before. I thought eating would make it stop; maybe I should go make some dirt.
Jasminepaw plodded out of camp to the dirt place and did her business. Still, the pains kept coming in dull, throbbing waves. I should talk to the Medicine cat. She grew more alarmed as she headed towards the apprentice’s den. I’ll just take a nap and see how I feel later…

Spiralpaw glanced around, looking for Jasminepaw. Blackstar said she would be training with us, but she didn't come. Her quick, sharp eyes raked across the clearing and spotted the depressed-looking cat and she trotted over to her.
"Jasminepaw?" She sniffed the air. "Are you okay? You smell kind of sick. Do you want to come train with Iceheart and me, or would you rather go to the medicine den?" Spiralpaw watched the apprentice carefully with curious, calculating, and yet not cold, eyes.

Jasminepaw had not been able to sleep for the whole time and cringed when she saw Spiralpaw in the distance. I have an excuse at least. She shook her head once the apprentice asked her the question. “I don’t think the Medicine Cat can help me now,” came her grim reply. “Spiralpaw, can you keep a secret?” whispered Jasminepaw, who was, as usual, grim looking…

The amber-colored apprentice blinked in surprise. "Keep a secret? Well, yeah. Of course I can." She tilted her head in confusion. Why wouldn't the medicine cat be able to help you?
"Jasminepaw, is something wrong?" Spiralpaw's eyes showed, on one of their extremely rare occasions, concern and worry. She's acting kind of strange... I hope she's alright.

“I—I think I’m—,” stuttered the confused Jasminepaw. I can’t tell her, she should be having fun; not listening to what I think might be going on. Hardening her demeanor she shut her mouth and blinked, coming to a quick decision. “—totally going to beat you at training,” came her shout. There was no determination in those words; they were merely to cover the truth of the matter with a tacky statement. They worked exactly like she wanted them. Spiralpaw may be suspicious, but she’ll never find out! There was determination in that thought, for she felt her life depended on it. Somehow her life became so much more important than that morning. Creating life in one’s self did that.
Hackles raised, Jasminepaw gave a soft smiled and asked, “Should I meet you there? I need to go and check the Elder’s den for a bit before I can come.” I can’t put them in jeopardy…

Spiralpaw thought for a moment about the sudden change in mood. She's hiding something...
The amber-colored cat flashed a menacing grin. "I'll meet you there. Just hurry, or I'll come looking for you." I want to keep a close eye on her.
